I played around in Lightroom with this photo and with black and white preset plus semi infrared preset, Monica has turned from pie hungry girl to Zombie eating brains. When the images played across the screen today during class I laughed because of how funny Monica looked but also how gross that pie looked. It was really hard to tell if you were suppose to laugh or feel disgusted. I loved it.
So I am still trying desperately to come up with a really unique idea for my Senior thesis. Yea, I want to do TTD, but I need something more to push the envelope. I thought about making 4x6 prints and sewing them into a dress once all shoots had been finished, but that still seems simple(or at least lil' too crazy in the wrong way) I'd like to try something else, but I dont know what.
I worked with Polaroid lifts last year. I love them. You take transparency film, this cool machine(so simple its like a mini enlarger that fits in your lap) put some polaroids underneath, expose, and take the polaroid, heat it, and remove the image from the paper backing. It floats in the water like a jelly fish. Using asatate, remove the image and shape into desired framing. Place image on any surface, then let dry. That's my simplified version of Polaroid Lift.
I made these awesome Boudoir Polaroid lifts(I was inspired after finding out about my sister in law's shoot with Kamila, thanks for being awesome!) I got a really good grade on that project and alot of praise. I thought about doing more Boudoir Polaroid lifts because the others were such a success and making them into "Naughty Cards". I don't know. I am allowed to experiment as much as I like. I have no limitations senior year. I just wish some far out idea would just smack me in the head and I would finally be inspired to do something no one else has really done.
I am sure at some point the idea will hit me and I will figure it all out. Until then I will continue to photograph girls in dresses.
