What's wrong with being a wedding photographer? Every time these big shots come to my school to sell their over priced equipment to friggin students they always slam wedding photography. Huh? There ain't nothing wrong with that profession. It pisses me off to no end when these "professional" photographers throw comments around like, "God, I would NEVER want to be a wedding photographer, that's too much for me..." or once I was at a seminar for Olympus and the woman laughed when no one raised their hands claiming aspirations to be future wedding photographers(I didn't because I was alll the way in the back on the balcony, she was on the ground level, not paying attention to that part of the auditorium. It would have been a waste.)
Come on people, it's a great job. I love assisting and learning the business. I can't wait to do another one. I love being active and constantly having to think about what's next. It's a fashion show and a half with all the flowers, dresses, tuxes, and cakes. It's wonderful. I know it can be stressful and when you've got like 3,000 images to limit down to a good 400, sometimes it feels like hell, but it's not an embarrasment by far. I give a wedding photographer I know and work with ALOT of credit for what she does. I love her work. I think she is a wonderful photographer and person. Bugger off, just because your company pays you steady to just travel around to colleges, selling equipment we only dream of buying(give me a break, do you really think that a student discount from 3,500 dollars to 1,100 dollars is winning anyone over???I. Don't. Think.So.)
Go show your 13,000 dollar digital Mamiya to someone who can actually afford it.
Geez...
